Celebrating New Year's Eve on Pub Street in Cambodia
Travelling to Siem Reap, Cambodia for New Year's Eve this year? If so, you should definitely check out Pub Street! Celebrated by locals and tourists alike, this popular area of Cambodia comes alive in the evening and late night with music and events. While it may not be ideal for those seeking a good night's sleep as it can get quite loud until midnight, the atmosphere is electric on New Year's Eve.
We decided to explore Pub Street on New Year's Eve and were amazed at how busy and lively it was! There were many people celebrating around the streets; some enjoying meals, while others just catching up with friends or taking in the sights. We spent most of our time exploring the local culture – sampling traditional dishes from street vendors or sitting down for dinner at one of Siem Reap’s many restaurants.
For dinner, we chose The Sugar Palm – a highly recommended restaurant in Siem Reap that unfortunately closed on New Years. We opted for an alternate nearby option which had beautiful decor including rooms situated near a pond & fountain that made us feel like we were dining outdoors even though we were not! We started off our meal with beers & watermelon juice freeze; then tucking into Beef Loklok one of their signature dishes (that I had tried before at another restaurant). All in all, it was an astonishing experience that will stay with us forever!
If you're visiting Siem Reap during your travels through Cambodia, make sure to spend some time exploring Pub Street – especially during special occasions like New Year’s Eve, where you can experience its unique culture & hospitality first-hand!
